Description - As part of the large re-development of the University's City Centre Campus, the scheme involved construction of a contemporary glass, vaulted central court building linking the grade II listed Newton & Arkwright buildings.

Red's work on the rooflights was carried out in Omnitech curtain walling with a vertical glass screen. The Link façade was again the Omnitech system complete with Boon Edam Revolving Doors.

Oxford Molecular Pathology Institute, University of Oxford

Description - Designed in collaboration with Make Architects, the purpose of this new building is to provide the adjoining Sir William Dunn School of Pathology with state-of-the-art, flexible laboratory spaces and computer services facilities.

A brise soleil constructed from horizontal aerofoil shaped terracotta baguettes forms a striking design feature. Designed by Red and hung onto extruded brackets fixed back through the unitised system, these baguettes shade the glazed northern and southern facades against solar gain. Vertical standing fins integrated into the system along the northern side shield the interior against morning and evening low angle sunlight.

The façade system chosen for the building was the bead glazed version of Schuco's SU90 unitised curtain wall system. 20% of the facility's energy needs will be met by on-site renewables including a CHP plant, a borehole groundsource heat pump, solar water heating and an absorption cooling process that uses heat generated by the computers to cool the building.

Westfield, Stratford

Description - Westfield opened its doors on 13th September 2011 to almost 1.9M sq ft of retail space making it one of Europe's largest shopping centres. Adjacent to the London Olympic Park and Stratford International Station, the shopping centre is part of the extensive multi-purpose development called Stratford City.

Red's work spanned over many buildings using a variety of products from stone cladding to over 20,000m2 of Paroc Panels and Tecu Brass Shingles, together with curtain walling and timber shutters.

The Mall, Luton

Architect - Broadway Malyan, London

Description - Originally opened in 1972, Luton's Arndale Mall was once Europe's largest covered shopping centre. The re-development completed in 2010, incorporated an additional 75,000 sq ft of retail space.

The spectacular 6 storey entrance on to St George Square consists of Kawneer AA110 structural silicone glazed curtain walling, Kingspan panelling, Wrightstyle fire rated glazing and multi coloured Euroclad ACM Rainscreen System.

Hope Hospital

Architect - HKS, London

Description - The state of the art development opened in September 2011. The new building has been 2 years in the making as it is part of the Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust's £200m re-development programme. The building will house a new A & E department and 242 beds.

Red undertook the building envelope from Kalzip and membrane roofs to the Schuco FW60+ curtain walling and AWS 65 window systems which integrates into the Moeding Alphaton Terracotta Rainscreen System.

Project Duo, IQ Business Park, Farnborough

Description - Project Duo is a 20,000 sq ft office development for SEGRO. It comprises four office buildings and a café pavilion which create a self-contained campus of civic quality within the IQ Farnborough Business Park.

The use of a mixture of feature precast concrete panels and Schüco FW60+ curtain walling plus Red's own Fluvista aluminium rainscreen to the façades provides four-storey office accommodation of exceptional quality; the building also benefits from Schüco RS 65 doors and its overall appearance has been further enhanced by extensive landscaping. The development is supported by a 7-storey car park.

The requirements of the tenant were very demanding and the success of the deal hinged on the ability to deliver the office accommodation only 69 weeks after signing the contract. This required a supreme combined effort by the architects, the main contractor and Red Architectural, but the quality of the finished product speaks for itself.

Bury St. Edmunds, Public Service Village

Description - St. Edmunds Bury Borough Council and Suffolk County Council have worked together to develop the Bury St. Edmunds Public Service Village, an innovative project designed to offer local people improved access to both authorities' services.

Red has fabricated and installed the complete envelope. The £2.2m contract includes the Kalzip 65/400 standing seam roof, Protan single membrane, Schuco FW60+ curtain walling, Matrix 1 zinc rainscreen to the entrance, Metsec internal backup wall, Velfac windows and James & Taylor terracotta feature rainscreen.

Central Park, Manchester

Description - One Central Park is playing a major role in Manchester becoming one of the country's first official "Science Cities", a pioneering collaboration between Manchester and Salford Univiersities 'MANCAT'. One Central Park is a place where industry and academia meet to develop tomorrows Future.

Red's work to the 100,000ft building was Schuco FW60+ curtain walling, RS65 windows & doors and a revolving door to the four storey glazed entrance.

Zenith Court, Hatfield

Description - The latest addition to Arlington's business park at Hatfield, this striking 3-storey office block was constructed in Schüco FW50+ curtain walling composite panels and a Renson brise soleil system.
